Did you try to install them in compatibility mode? Right click on the installer, select Properties, select the Compatibility tab, then select "Run as Vista" and "Run as Administrator"

There are some fundamental differences between Win7 and Vista that I'm just starting to notice. Dunno if this is one of them tho'.

BTW - can you launch it by going to Start and typing "mmsys.cpl" (without the quotes) and pressing Enter?

I think it was to do with the fact that it was the 64 bit version of win 7  , but nothing I tried worked so I formatted and installed the 32 bit one and all is fine :D Happy Days.

Thanks very much for the help

Andy
