on another thread i asked about this shortcut- 'c:windows
undll.exe user.exe,exitwindows' and asked if it will defiantly work. But no reply so I'm asking it again and I'm also asking if it does not work for some reason, is there a way to stop it. Is it just a case of deleting the shortcut or is there something that i have to do? Anyway please help. I really wanna do this but i need to know if its really good and successful.
Thanks

whenever i need to work with shutting down, i goto Start > Run, and type shutdown.exe followed by any of the following:

-a to stop a shutdown (abort)
-s to initiate a shutdown (shutdown)
-r to restart the computer (restart)
-t ## to initiate a shutdown after ## seconds (timer)
-f to close any running applications (force quit)
-l to log off the current user (log off)

There may be a few others involving networked conputers, but those are the main ones I use.

so typing shutdown.exe -a stops a forced shutdown (useful when an unwanted forced shutdown occurs)

so typing shutdown.exe -a

"shutdown -a" works too.
Another way to do this is to create different .bat files. U execute them and they do the JOB.
Shutdown in 15 seconds :
@echo off
shutdown -s -t 15
---------------------
Abort Shutdown:
@echo off
shutdown -a
---------------------
Copy those text and open Edit window from DOS [ start > run >cmd , In DOS Prompt : Edit [hit Enter] ] Save the text there and save the file as "Filename.bat"
----------------------
Bring the files to desktop and whenever u need them double click them !!

Thanks for the reminder spywaredr, I forgot about using the Windows Key and pressing the "u" key twice, I used to do this and forgot all about it.
Very useful indeed and didn't have to create a shortcut.
Thanks for the Reminder!!!!! :thumbsup:
Anything that saves a little time!!!!

Cheers!
