Dang!

Very sad News to be sure.

Been there and seen smaller.
This may be the worst I'm aware of to date.

Our prayers go out to all.
The only easy day was yesterday.

It's been an awful few days for so many people in the state of Victoria. The Beechworth fire mentioned in DSTM's linked article is about 45 km by road from where I live, the little town of Yackandandah that is under threat from that fire is closer.

Saturday's record temperatures saw 45 degrees C (113 F) here, with a lot of smoke and dust blown in by the strong winds that have been driving the fires. Fortunately Sunday (yesterday) was cooler at 39 C, with less wind, but the smoke has still been considerable.

A distressing factor is that several of the fires are thought to have been deliberately lit.

Top 5 things that never get done:

I know you all cannot have firearmes now, but, arsonists should be be shot dead upon sight....

I saw this earlier on the news, the worst fire in Australia's recorded history, and the worst lose of life in a single incident. Truly horrific.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Although my heart is weeping for the horror so so many are going through, I'm so incredibly relieved to see our members popping up here - have been SO worried!!!

Please please stay safe and my deepest sympathy to all who are suffering.
Never let your computer realize you are in a hurry or just typing the last few words of a vital document.

While outer events might make one happy or sad, happiness itself is entirely internal, and at all times completely within one's power.

Actually it is the worst lose of life in peace time, Mate, in a single incident.

Much different to War.

Edit.

Our entire Country is Bleeding for the people that have lost every thing, including their Families, friends or even their own Lives.

There have been many Heroes in it, people that have lost every thing but still fought it to save others!
They are the unsung Heroes, I hope are recognised.

Thank God that the Arsonists were arrested and taken away before the FireFighters got to them.

They would have found out what Aussie Bush Justice was all about.

Now they have to face the Prison System? Them Blokes lost loved ones too. They have nothing to lose.

Honestly?

There is not one Country in the World that ever wishes to face Aussies that have a Beef about them, not a single one.

For our own to do this to us, they can expect the same!

Sooner these (Can not describe it, without getting Banned) nice people learn that they live in Australia, the better.

Sorry, this is so Sad, but it binds this Country together!

From the Top of our Leadership to the Bottom, we will support those Victims and all their Families. What ever it takes, Aussies will Rally around.

In addition to the people who died directly from the fire, there will be much illness and death as the smoke and other pollutants spread across Australia. It is summer there and very hot, the pollutants will be that much more potent.

The death toll and injuries may go much higher and may never be known.
