Hi,

I have spent hours with HP support. I have a Compaq Presario Vista home premium edition with service pack one. I have owned this PC for about 6 months. Just about every month I have issues where my computer..it just slows down. Have problems rebooting... At times will not even shutdown, when trying to reboot..just hangs, then I need to do a power off to restart.

Today after spending hours with HP support, I did get a ticket to bring in for diagnostics, as I am still under warranty.

Did a system restore back to a week ago. This usually helps. However this time, I could not even boot up, then did power off and when I booted up again, it automatically suggested I click here to do a start up repair, which I did....Ran for a little while then screen popped up saying..attempting repairs....then it said repairing disc errors, this may take an hour. So I went out ran an errand, came back and I was up and running.

I have used it now for a few hours on and off, and things seem to be OK. I am just wondering if there is a way I can see what happened (perhaps view a log or something) to find out why it needed to repair disc errors. The hardest part about this, is I have had similiar issues about once a month.

Every time, the first signs of my problems occur when the light under the power button starts blinking on with little interuptions. Hope I am making sense here...
Any feedback is welcomed.

If it's repairing disk errors frequently, then the most suspect thing would be your hard drive. Try running a diagnostic from the manufacturer of your hard drive.

After Startup Repair has run, locate the log file at %WINDIR%\System32\LogFiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
That'll tell you what happened during startup repair (more info here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc722188.aspx )
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
