Dell Inspiron 530s running XP Pro :- (USB mouse and K/bd) - On bootup the keyboard works to allow access to bios and the mouse lights up. When XP loads to the welcome screen - Neither the K/Bd nor mouse work (No lights on mouse) This is the same in safe mode (which the K/bd allows to be selected)..
Checked in bios and USB is enabled - no other settings I can see for USB.. Tried alternate mouse and K/bd but same problem.
Any any ideas.
I did boot to a BART CD and both K/bd and mouse work. Seems as soon as booting into XP they fail..
Help please - got me beat...

Have you tried a PS/2 mouse.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.

No PS2 connectors..
.
Have resolved by doing a windows repair install - all seems O.K. now.. Must have been a problem with O.S.
