My CD-RW/DVD drive on my laptop won't write/burn to disc. It will still read a disc with data already stored on it and it will play a music cd. I'll click to write data to a cd or burn music to a cd and it goes through all the steps and acts like it's doing what it should. After a bit it'll say it's finished and a second or two after that the message comes up again that I always get when I put in a blank disc to record on and it tells me I inserted a blank disc and asks if I want to write to it. I can't record music, any kind of data, or anything I have downloaded from iTunes and I used to be able to do all of that on my computer. I know next to nothing about computers so any help would really be appreciated.
I went to Roxio and got one update but when I try to get the other driver update a popup window happens and nothing downloads. I tried to burn a disc after the first download and it acts like it's writing to the disc but nothing shows up after I burn to disc - it's like it never burned anything because the disc still reads as blank.
I use Norton for virus and all my Microsoft Updates for XP are current. The laptop is from hp if that helps.
I had the same deal ...with roxio after the update from 5.0 to 5.3.
I discovered I could burn using Windows Media player, but not Roxio.
So I uninstalled Roxio .. got rid of all of the loose ends, re-booted, and re-installed 5.0 and stayed away from the update. It's back to burning just fine.
