I had to cut the title short, otherwise it would a bit too long.

Hi there, I'm TGP1994 with a little computer problem. When I try to start up Internet Explorer, either by double clicking it's executable or the shortcut windows provides, it says:

Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe.' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

Remember, I'm in the Internet Explorer folder, double clicking on iexplore.exe. So I don't exactly know how windows can't find it.

Now I've read around, and most results seem to point to an infection on my computer of some sort. So I did a Quick scan with Spy Sweeper, and it turned up an adware and a trojan horse. I qurantined both and removed them. I reinstalled IE, using IE8, and it still says that same error.

So can someone help me in actually finding this infection and removing it?

Many thanks in advance.

Ok, SpyBot S&D Removed quite a few trojans, and I rebooted my PC after that. IE still doesn't start up. What now?

FIXED

Nevermind, I was able to fix it.

All I had to do was delete a single registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplorer.exe

What happened was some virus/thing actually changed the value of that key, so when I tried to launch iexplorer, it actually launched the malicious program, which is now gone. I think I may keep Spybot S&D, which keeps an eye on my registry.

Thanks for all the help, guys
