I have a Gateway MX8734 laptop computer and my DVD player is not working anymore. I tried to update the driver by using the "check for sloutions "button but it said: could not load driver software. Should I get a new dvd player? If so which one is compatible/

Could you please tell us exactly what you mean by it doesn't work?

Have you looked in the Device Manager to see if there are any errors for the DVD/CD-ROM?

While you're in the Device Manger go to DVD/CD-ROM and click on the + in the box to expand the tree, double click on the drive, when this opens look at the Device status to see if it is being recognized as working properly. Next click on Driver and then click on Uninstall. Reboot the computer and the installation wizard will recognize it at new hardware and will assign the proper drivers for it.
