Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

I think this is some kind off infection in windows system 32. this is what scans report anyway. i have tried scanning with spybot and other programs but although they find things they don't remove them. certain windows components will not run, eg control panel doesn't show any options. also there is constantly something flying across the screen saying "this computer is being attacked".

Hello. I am PropagandaPanda (Panda or PP for short), and I will be helping you.

Disable Realtime Protection
Antimalware programs can interfere with ComboFix and other tools we need to run. Please temporarily disable all realtime protections you have enabled. Refer to this page, if you are unsure how.

Download and Run ComboFix
Download Combofix by sUBs from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop.
Link 1, Link 2, Link 3
  • Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. Refer to this page if you are not sure how.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe and follow the prompts. If you are using Windows Vista, right click the icon and select "Run as Administrator". You will not recieve the prompts below if you are not using Windows XP. ComboFix will check to see if you have the Windows Recovery Console installed.
  • If you did not have it installed, you will see the prompt below. Choose YES.
    Posted ImagePosted Image

  • When the Recovery Console has been installed, you will see the prompt below. Choose YES.
    Posted Image
  • When finished, ComboFix will produce a report for you. Please post the contents of the log (C:\ComboFix.txt).
Leave your computer alone while ComboFix is running. ComboFix will restart your computer if malware is found; allow it to do so.

Download and Run Scan with GMER
We will use GMER to scan for rootkits.

Please download GMER.zip to your desktop from any of the links below:
LINK1, LINK2
  • Right click on GMER.zip and select "Extract All".
  • Close all other open programs as there is a slight chance your computer will crash.
  • Double click GMER.exe. Your security programs may detect GMER's driver trying to load. Allow it.
  • You may see a warning saying "GMER has detected rootkit activity". If so, select NO.
  • Leaving the settings at default, click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click Save and save the log onto your desktop.
Please include the log in your next reply.
In your next reply include:
-the ComboFix log
-the GMER scan log

Please also tell me of any changes you have made to your computer since you started your topic.

With Regards,
The Panda

the only change i've recently made to my computer is that i deleted AVG as it kept having to be re-set up/ re-installed every time i went to use it.

Hello.

Posted ImageBackdoor Threat
I'm sorry to say that your computer is infected with one or more backdoor trojans.

This means that sensitive information could have been stolen. I would advise to change any passwords for any accounts that you have accessed with the infected computer using a clean computer ASAP. If you have used this computer for banking, I would strongly suggest that you report the possible stolen information. Please do not use the computer for any further transactions, or to enter any other information, if at all possible, until it is declared clean.

You may want to read this article on how to handle identity theft.
You may also want to read this article regarding preventing of identity theft.

This computer can still be cleaned, however, I cannot guarantee that it will be 100% safe even after disinfection.

Please read When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall.

I will proceed assuming you wish to disinfect. If you want to do a reinstall, reply back saying so.

Run ComboFix with CFScript
We will run ComboFix again with a script.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. Refer to this page if you are unsure how.
  • Open notepad (Start>Run>"notepad") and copy/paste the text in the box below into it:
    File::
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\drivers.cab.exe
    c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\HelpHost.com
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\ati1xsxx.sys

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\image file execution options\EXCEL.exe]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\image file execution options\MSACCESS.exe]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\image file execution options\MSPUB.exe]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\image file execution options\Photoshop.exe]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\image file execution options\POWERPNT.exe]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\image file execution options\ProcessManager.exe]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\image file execution options\WINWORD.exe]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{9fcc1800-7a0c-11da-86fc-806d6172696f}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{9fcc1801-7a0c-11da-86fc-806d6172696f}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{c38c2c38-c510-11dd-88fa-00116774c6c1}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{d1afcd14-8f43-11dc-8720-00116774c6c1}]

    Driver::
    Bits550
    Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe. (This should be your desktop.)
    Posted Image
    Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you at "C:\ComboFix.txt". Post back with that log.

Do not mouseclick ComboFix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Download and Run FlashDisinfector
You have a flash drive infection. These worms travel through your portable drives. If they have been connected to other machines, they may now be infected.
  • Please download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder. It will help protect your drives from future infection.

Download and run MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
If you already have MBAM installed, simply update and run a quick scan.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware setup and to your desktop.
alternate download link 1
alternate download link 2

Refer to the steps given here on installing MalwareBytes, running the scan, and saving the log file (not on using File Assasin).
  • If you have trouble updating, try the other mirror download site.
  • Should the computer in question not be able update using the normal method download the update file from here, using another machine if needed. Simple double click the file to install the updates.
  • If MalwareBytes asks to reboot to remove certain items, do so right away.
Please include the scan logfile in your next reply.
Please post back with:
-the ComboFix log
-the MalwareBytes log

Tell me of any symptoms still present.

With Regards,
The Panda

Hello.

Looks good.

Did you add these restrictions?
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer\disallowrun]
"12"= forge60.exe
"24"= Forge70.exe
"13"= keygen.exe

"32"= NeatImage.exe
"33"= AudioCommander.exe
"34"= NeroStartSmart.exe
"35"= msiexec.exe
(None of those files will be allowed to start.)

There are some items I want to take a look at. First disable TeaTimer.

To disable SpyBot's TeaTimer:
  • Open SpyBot Search and Destroy by going to Start -> All Programs -> Spybot Search and Destroy -> Spybot Search and Destroy.
  • If prompted with a legal dialog, accept the warning.
  • Click Posted Image and then on "Advanced Mode"
    Posted Image
  • You may be presented with a warning dialog. If so, press Posted Image
  • Click on Posted Image
  • Click on Posted Image
  • Uncheck this checkbox:
    Posted Image
  • Close/Exit Spybot Search and Destroy
Please run this script with ComboFix.

  • The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
  • Now, click on the Save Report as button.
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
You can refer to this animation by sundavis.

This scanner will only scan. It does not remove any malware it finds.

Firstly, how do I add the restrictions??

Also I cannot remove Java as I am unable to use any of the options in the control panel. when i attempt to switch to classic view it doesn't display anything at all.
I did everything else you said to in the last post. except run kaspersky as it won't let me do this without an updated java.

Hello.

Firstly, how do I add the restrictions??

I was just wondering if you had added them. I take it that you did not, so we will remove them.

Also I cannot remove Java as I am unable to use any of the options in the control panel. when i attempt to switch to classic view it doesn't display anything at all.

In that case, simply install the new Java over the old one.

Apply Registry Script
  • Copy the following into a notepad (Start>Run>"notepad"). Do not copy the word "code".
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer\disallowrun]
    "12"=-
    "24"=-
    "13"=-
    "15"=-
    "16"=-
    "17"=-
    "18"=-
    "19"=-
    "20"=-
    "21"=-
    "22"=-
    "7"=-
    "28"=-
    "29"=-
    "8"=-
    "9"=-
    "23"=-
    "25"=-
    "26"=-
    "27"=-
    "30"=-
    "31"=-
    "32"=-
    "33"=-
    "34"=-
    "35"=-
  • Click File, then Save As... .
  • Click Desktop on the left.
  • Under the Save as type dropdown, select All Files.
  • In the box File Name, input fix.reg
  • Hit OK.
When done properly, the icon should look like Posted Image.

Double click fix.reg and answer Yes to the prompts. You should recieve the message that the entries have been successfully merged. If not, post back with the error message.

Delete fix.reg after use.

Download and Run Dial-a-Fix
This program fixes many common problems in Windows. It is possible that some settings will be reset.
  • Please download Dial-A-Fix to your desktop.
  • Right click the zip file and select Extract All to extract the contents into a new.
  • Double click Dial-a-Fix.exe to start the program.
  • Press the green double checkmark box (Looks like this: Posted Image)
  • Uncheck Empty Temp Folders and Adjust Time/Date in the prep section. The prep section should then look like this:
    Posted Image
  • When the window looks like this, press the GO button in the bottom of the window.
    Posted Image
  • Close Dial-A-Fix

If you can please complete the Kaspersky scan.

Also post a new DDS.txt log.

Any problems right now?

With Regards,
The Panda
