Search Engine Bug virus

Had an XP machine that no matter what search engine you used you would get correct titles about your inquiry but the link would not be connected to the title, but to some site trying to sell something you did not even inquire about. I found someone inquiring in a forum here but could not find the post again so I hope this will help him.

The problem turned out to be windows\system32\wdmaud.sys

renamed the offending file and search engines work correctly.

We scanned with the following apps and found nothing before finding the answer on the McAfee site.
Nortons Internet Security 2009, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes, combofix

BC AdBot (Login to Remove)
