I have been using AVG for quite a while now. I have an HP Pavilion desktop PC with Windows XP Home SP3. For the first time ever, when I turned on my PC last night, my Comodo firewall asked for permission to allow the AVG updater to connect to the Internet. I thought that this was unusual, as AVG has always had permission to connect. I allowed the connection, and after the update was completed, AVG informed me that my PC would need to be rebooted in order to complete the update. This is also something that I have never seen before. I rebooted the computer.
This morning, after using the Internet for a few minutes, as soon as I closed my Firefox browser, my Comodo firewall came up again. This time, it was asking for permission to allow the AVG "Prevalance Reporter" to connect to the Internet. (I think that is what it said. I wish I had made a note of it, but I didn't.) At that point, I really started to wonder what was going on with my PC, and I decided to deny the connection.
I'm really curious as to what these new changes are, if anyone could shed a little light on this for me.
Thank you to all who take the time to reply.
