I recently started having problems using Google. Anytime I search anything on google, most of the results look like they are pure advertising websites. None of the expected websites show up. For example, typing "wiki" usually gives wikipedia as the first result, but I don't even see wikipedia in my search results.
I also notice that everytime I click on search in Google, I always notice at the bottom of Firefox, that it says "Waiting for 220.127.116.11...", which strikes me as odd.
I have no problems using Yahoo. Also, this issue affects both IE and firefox.
I believe I have some sort of spyware or adware on my computer that specifcally targets google.
I have Spybot S & D on my computer, which I had not updated in a while. So I updated it and did a scan, and it picked up and fixed a couple of problems.
But it still did not solve the Google problem.
I tried installing Lavasoft Ad-aware, but am having issues getting it to work, and I believe there is some incompatibility with Spybot.
Also, ever since I updated Spybot, everytime I start the computer, Spybot automatically does a system scan. The weird part is that when windows starts, the only thing that shows up, is the background, and then spybot starts. The taskbar and desktop folders do not show up, unless I stop the spybot scan. And when I stop the spybot scan, I get a pop-up that says "Windows has just recovered from a critical system error"
Has anyone else seen this problem before?
Any help is appreciated.
