Hello Everyone,

Just joined after reading an article about scareware in a magazine. Over the past year I have ran into many customer infections, the highest offender being the AntiSpyware2008 and 2009 malicious code. I have only been successful at removing this one time and remarkably it was over a remote session. Since then, I have not been successful at removing this and similar infections without having to reformat the OS. That is mostly because we have a policy at my work to only try for 30 minutes of billable time before we decide to reinstall. I am hoping this site will provide additional knowledge to my personal knowledge bank on pointers to removing these infections without reformatting.

I recently ran into a new infection that calls itself SystemGuard2009. Has anyone heard of this one? After trying unsucessfully to remove it, I was about to reformat then decided to try a System Restore to a month before the infection occurred and surprisingly it seemed to work. I ran the PC for 4 hours with an active internet connection and didn't receive a single pop up and after scanning with AVG, I found no infections. Does anyone have experience with this particular infection and am I living in a dream world to think I have successfully removed it?
