Hi I think I've got a serious problem on my computer...

This problem has been going on for a while.

Every time I start the computer I get to error messages below to start with

Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\j2211337.dll
The specific module could not be found.

Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\pbjuoiu
The specific module could not be found.

Everything appears to be normal BUT none of my internet browsers can connect to the internet even thought there is a connection (i am on a different computer), on ANY of the profiles/settings. So I cannot update anything. My task manager was disabled but i managed to enable that one again. My AVG Anti-virus 8.0 I had to update by downloading it on a different computer and then transferring it but it wont work anymore. It opens but wont run the scan. I tried Dr. Web as well and it cures and deletes what it can and moves the rest. Spybot S&D came up clean. My properties don't work either (I cant change my wallpaper or anything else). After all this my problem is still there. I don't know what to do anymore... I'm desperate please help...

Hi,

I think I've got a serious problem on my computer...

This computer is indeed severly infected...
Problem with these infections nowadays is, it causes a lot of damage. Even if we clean the malware off your system, I can't guarantee that your system will be clean afterwards, because these infections/bundles leave a lot of leftovers behind that most scanners won't even recognise and logs won't show.
Also, I can't promise you we can repair all the damage it caused... Even after cleaning the malware, you can still get errors afterwards because of the damage. Solving these is not always possible since it will be searching for a needle in a haystack to find the right cause and solution.
So, we can try to clean this up and do what we can, but keep in mind that we can't solve ALL problems this malware already caused.

In light of this it would be wise for you to back up any files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start. Reason I am telling this is because when a system is so terribly infected and we try to clean this up manually, the damage that is already present may interfere with our removal attempts.

In anyway, to fix your Internet connection, do the following..

Go to start > run and type cmd
A dos Window will appear.
Type next in the dos window: netsh winsock reset
hit enter.

reboot.

This should solve your broken connection.

Then, I see you are running Teatimer.
I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system.
When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.
How to disable TeaTimer <== click me for instructions.
After you disabled Teatimer, download ResetTeaTimer.bat to your desktop. (In case you use Firefox, rightclick the link and choose "save as").
Doubleclick ResetTeaTimer.bat and let it run.
This will only take a few seconds.

Then, * Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.

Thank you for your help.
Ok, the internet is working again.
I also disabled the teatimer but when I download ResetTeaTimer.bat it downloads and opens in notepad. Is that how its supposed to work? If not what do i do?

Hi,

Most probably you're using Firefox? If so, rightclick the ResetTeatimer.bat and click "save as" and save it to your desktop.
In case it's being downloaded as ResetTeatimer.bat.txt, rightclick the file and rename it to ResetTeatimer.bat
Then run it.

In anyway, it's not such a big deal though - The most important step is to disable teatimer.

Then proceed with the rest of my steps :thumbup2:

Did you disable your Antivirus? Because AVG interferes with combofix otherwise and blocks it.
Sometimes you have to be patient before Combofix starts to run, but if nothing happens after 5 minutes, then it's because your Antivirus is blocking it, or the malware is blocking it.
So, try again with your AVG disabled. If still the same, try it from Windows safe mode.
If that still doesn't work either, then try this version of Combofix.

I did disable the AVG and it still wouldnt work so I ran it in safe mode and it started working.
It scanned and there were 50 stages instead of 41 and it scanned other things too.
Then it stopped and said. "Rebooting Windows . . . Please wait" but nothing happened. Is this because its in safe mode? What should i do now?

Hi,

How long have you waited... ? Because it can indeed be a while.
Otherwise, reboot manually and see if it proceeds after reboot with creating the log. If not, then try again.

Thank you again for the help.
I waited about 2 hours before I wrote you and then I left it on all night just in case. I'll keep trying though and let you know.

Hi,

Just try again. :thumbup2:
The log will be created on your C:\ with the name Combofix.txt

Btw, I assume you're running Combofix from the desktop as instructed?

Hi.
Yes that's where I'm running it from. I got it to work on the regular settings instead of safe mode and it still got stuck on the reboot. But i'm going to run it again and hope it works. I'll keep looking for the log but so far no luck.

Hi,

I think its your AVG interfering, because it always happens after reboot. AVG is active again then, so that's why it may block it.
What I suggest is to temporary uninstall AVG, then reboot. Then try to run Combofix once again from Windows normal mode.

I see. Ok, well i've tried to remove AVG several times now but it keeps giving me an error message :

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows: creating registry key....
Error 0x80070005

So the uninstall fails. I have written to the AVG support but so far no answer. I'll keep trying to uninstall now before running the ComboFix again. Thanks.

Hi,

Leave it for now and don't uninstall AVG.
Let's disable it from starting up instead..

To do this, start HijackThis and check and fix the following entries in HijackThis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG8_TRAY] C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgtray.exe
O23 - Service: AVG Free8 E-mail Scanner (avg8emc) - AVG Technologies CZ, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgemc.exe
O23 - Service: AVG Free8 WatchDog (avg8wd) - AVG Technologies CZ, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgwdsvc.exe

Then reboot.
We'll restore those entries from the HijackThis backup afterwards anyway.

Then run Combofix again.
If still no log after reboot, look if there's a combofix.txt created on your C:\

If not, do next instead..

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Ok I managed to uninstall AVG before I read your last post. I ran the combofix again but it still got stuck at the "rebooting windows... please wait."
I'm going to go ahead and download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware but my clock is still changed and do I just delete the ComboFix? Or not even worry about it until after?
