I am having some major problems cracking the password on my laptop. I believe I got some sort of idiotic virus or something that crept in after a Restart this evening, and it won't let me get into my system. I'm on a HP Pavilion using XP Media Center Edition, and it's prompting with a screen that says:
Username: HP Pavilion
Of course, I never used a password in this so it boggles my mind. I don't use passwords for my primary computer.
Anyhow, I've tried several different ways to get back in and failed. I tried booting via OphCrack, which is apparently very reputable, but it did basically nothing. In fact, it told me that HP Pavilion's password slot was "Empty." I used Login Passwords (I think that's what it's called), which is some program that will provide you with your password so you can get it, but it didn't work. I tried another program called PC Login or something or the other, and still no luck. This thing just won't go away. I can't even access bloody Control Panel to fix anything.
I've tried to boot in via Safe Mode, but every time I click on the HP Pavilion, it flashes "Loading your settings... Saving your settings," and then goes back to the main XP Accounts screen. Logging under "adminstrator" with no password or "HP Pavilion" with no password might show a flash of my real desktop background but it will not let me into the system.
Could anybody please help me or mention another method I am getting desperate!
