I am new to the forum and had accidentally posted this to Windows Vista Forum earlier. I APOLOGIZE for that!!

Anyone who can help me with this, please know this that I will be very very thankful to you for your help. I am a student and I usually only goto a handful of sites day in and day out. But a few days ago I was trying to fix a 6to4 driver error (network) and ended on a shady site, that made me download RegCure and since then I have had this issue. I am not a computer savvy person, but was able to search online (Lab computer) and find the issue and found that people on this website have been extermely helpful to idiots like me.

I have been having a really tough time researching for my papers for my classes, since every search I do ends up somewhere else :-((

Again, THANKS in ADVANCE for helping me.

Here is the DDS.txt log:

Hi,

It seems you may not be using legit copy of RegCure. Please uninstall it.

Uninstall old Adobe Reader versions and get the latest one here or get Foxit Reader here. Make sure you don't install toolbar if choose Foxit Reader!

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version...

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 12.
  • Click the
    Download
    button to the right.
  • Select Windows on platform combobox and check the box that says:
    Accept License Agreement. Click continue.
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u12-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version. Uncheck MSN toolbar if it's offered there.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

File::
C:\CRACK+RegCure.rar

Save this as
CFScript

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Posted Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it

Under Main choose:
Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Cookies
Temporary Internet Files
Prefetch
Java Cache

*The other boxes are optional*
Then click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

If you use Opera:
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Please run an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner as instructed in the screenshot here. If you get a message that latest Java must be installed "enable" the Java add-ons in IE7. Do that using "manage add-ons" from the IE7 toolbar.

Post back its report, a fresh hjt log and above mentioned ComboFix resultant log.

Blade81,

Thank you for all your help.

I haven't been able to run the kaspersky virus scan, cause it keeps telling me that I don't have Java 1.6 or higher version enabled and I have IT ENABLED. But it doesn't go. Though even without that, for now my laptop is working like before. So thank you so much. Attached are the ComboFix resultant log and the hiJackThis log.

Thank you and if you can advise me on how to get the right java version to make the Kaspersky tool working, that would be great as well. Thank YOU!!

Looks quite good :thumbup2:

Anyway, I want that we do one extra scan too. Let's see if we can make ESET scanner work.

* Go here to run an online scanner from ESET.
  • Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  • Click Start
  • When asked, allow the activex control to install
  • Click Start
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is UNchecked and the option Scan unwanted applications is checkmarked.
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic, along with a new HijackThis log & a description of any remaining problems

Blade81,

The eset doesn't work either. After I click download the ActiveX control its says done in the status bar of IE at the bottom and I get a little red cross in the left top corner (letting me know there was something wrong). I tried it but i doesn't work. :-( Is there another tool that I could try.

Again, thank you so much for your help, it is invaluable.

Hi

Please reset Internet Explorer security settings to defaults by following instructions here. Then make sure ESET related activeX is enabled (in IE click Tools->Manage Add-Ons->Enable or disable add-on).

Hi

Maybe you could try F-secure scanner (make sure you have IE security settings resetted as instructed here). People seem to have problems getting ESET scanner work.

Please run the
F-Secure
Online Scanner

Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer
Only!
  • Follow the Instruction
    Here
    for installation.
  • Accept the License Agreement.
  • Once the ActiveX installs,Click Full System Scan
  • Once the download completes, the scan will begin automatically.
  • The scan will take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning
    (recommended)
    button.
  • Click the Show Report button and Copy&Paste the entire report
    in your next reply.
