I recently got a hold of a computer that has some strange quirks. It is running WIN Me. I had a great deal of trouble getting the monitor to come on. After that, the mouse would not do anything (thank God for tabbing). I had to reinstall a generic driver for the mouse.

I have installed and run Spybot, Ad-Aware, and HJT (which checked clean in that forum). I found the byterate trojan with AVG. I am having trouble finding any information about it though. I did see a snippet about byterate.ad that mentioned an attack on drivers.

The machine still runs slowly, though the trojan was eliminated by AVG. Also, all of the pictures on the thing show up as negatives.

Any info about this trojan and what it does would be most appreciated.

Be Strong And Courageous!
