Hi all,

sorry that I have to post but i was not able to find enough information in other posts to remove the above mentioned troyan. here's what happened so far.

whenever my screensaver turned off because i started using my machine, i got a virus warning saying that some file was infected with a troyan. i quarantined the file every time, but i never got to the end of it. so i decided to take action. btw, i'm using avira antivirus.

after reading a few posts in this forum i tried to find the source by myself, and fix it if possible. this is how far i got.

1) i ran HJT and had a look at the log but couldn't find anything exotic. i've attached it for you reference.

2) then i ran ATF-cleaner to remove all the unneeded files from my computer. this worked, it freed up around 350MB.

3) afterwards i ran OTScanIt2.exe, downloaded using a link from another post. this produced a logfile with 650 lines. i have to admit, i did not read through all of them. so i continued. i've attached the log though.

4) next, i ran the kaspersky online virus scanner. this one found the Trojan.Win32.Genome.hew in the file C:\Program Files\Ipswitch\WS_FTP Professional\fwsced.exe

so do you have any ideas on how i could get rid of this troyan? which logs should i post? or is it just a warning based on a heuristic analysis of the program code? i doubt the later cause i've had WS_FTP installed for quite a while now and i've used it a couple of times.

any help or suggestion is much appreciated

cheers,
T
