Okay so as we type i am writing and doing stuff in safe mode i have tried to find the error myself but i cant seem to find it i am also trying to install Service Pack 3, but whenever i go on the OS decision page and choose Windows XP Professional SP3 Setup. I just get a black page with a flashing underscore. If you all could tell me how to fix it i would be much appreciative. TY

The black screen with flashing underscore in the upper left corner...can sometimes be fixed by running the fixmbr command from the XP Recovery Console on the XP CD.

Recovery Console - How to Enter Windows XP Recovery Console - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ss/rconsole.htm

Normally, nothing needs to be entered as a password, just hit Enter.

Once in the RC (past the password prompt), just type fixboot on the first line and hit Enter.
