Hi, guys,

I think this is the correct place for this thread, apologies if it is not.

I have a freecom 8GB memory stick which has lots of my work on it. have been using it with my new vista laptop, i plugged it in last night and it came up with no information on device and took while to load. so i plugged it into my dads XP PC and all the stuff was still there! i have copied the files on his computer as a backup.

I am curious as to why it will not recognise any of the information, when it had before.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

It sounds like a permissions problem. Since you have backed up all the information on the drive, try formatting it and then putting the information back on it.

could be a USB port problem as well, try it in a different USB port. :D

like senlis said check the permisions, if i remember right you can set those by right clicking the usb port when its plugged in. however, it could be the USB controller inside the laptop, so i would check and make sure by plugging in other usb drives or devices, if they dont work either the problems the computer. if they do work, the problems with the USB flash drive, probably the permissions like senlis said. what kind of laptop is it again?
