Did anyone get caught out by Google's problem yesterday? See http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/thi...omputer-on.html

Well it caught me out. I was installing some software on my PC yesterday and was having a problem getting the program to run. Hoping to find a solution I went Googling and ran straight into their problem. My immediate thought was that the installation disk contained a virus which had managed to get past my defences and antivirus program.
The next hour was spent analysing my PC and running full antispyware and antivirus scans only to find that my PC was clear and that the Google problem had mysteriously disappeared. I still felt slightly uneasy as to the state of my PC until, after a few hours, I learnt what the cause had been.

Did anyone else have grief over this?

Yes, and no.

Whenever something unusual happens on my PC, I've learned to take a deep breath and wait a little while before I become concerned. Often, things just "heal" themselves.

Oddly, I was also having trouble with AVG updating yesterday, too. Today, things have settled down.

Otherwise -

great googly-moogly!

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!
