Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results, click no to the Optional_Scan
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

R,
K
The only easy day was yesterday.

Hello.

Please run an online scan and Dial-a-fix. Post back with a new DDs scan afterwards.

Run F-Secure Online Scan

Please run F-Secure Online Scanner.
This scan is for Internet Explorer only.
  • It is suggested that you disable security programs and close any other windows during the scan. While your security is disabled, please refrain from surfing on other sites. Refer to this page if you are unsure how.
  • Go to F-Secure Online Scanner
  • Follow the instructions here for installation.
  • Accept the License Agreement.
  • Once the ActiveX installs, click Full System Scan
  • Once the download completes, the scan will begin automatically. The scan will take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button.
  • Click the Show Report button and copy the entire report in your next reply.
  • Be sure to re-enable any security programs.
Download and Run Dial-a-Fix

This program fixes many common problems in Windows.
  • Please download Dial-A-Fix from one of the following mirrors:
  • Extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Double click Dial-a-Fix.exe to start the program.
  • Press the green double checkmark box (Looks like this: Posted Image)
  • UNcheck "Empty Temp Folders", as well as "Adjust Time/Date" in the prep section. The prep section should then look like this:
    Posted Image
  • When the window looks like this, press the GO button in the bottom of the window.
    Posted Image
  • Exit/Close Dial-A-Fix
Tell me how it goes and if you have more problems now? Does Windows Update still can't update?

With Regards,
Extremeboy

Hello.

This does not seem to be malware related. F-Secure scan was clean.

DDS log was okay in the previous post. Post back with a new DDS scan as mentioned and give me a screenshot of the restriction and error message you get when running Dial-a-fix please.

OK there's the DDS and some screenprints
thank you very much for trying i appreciate a lot
i would send a screenshot but the file is to big for the upload
but it exatly say : regsvr32.exe was not found in C:\WINDOWS\system32. This will not affect Dial-a-fix but it will affect the installation of other programs. It is suggested that you extract this file from your installation media

Hello.

The infection you previously may have had seem to be removed. There are some damages done it seems as some windows file are not there anymore. Do you have a windows XP CD? If so, I suggest you do what it says and repair any system files.

Alternatively you can repair system files using this guide: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/43051/how-to-use-sfcexe-to-repair-system-files/

I suggest you remove Bitdefender or AVG 8.0 because having 2 anti-virus products installed leads to system crashing and false-positives.

Below are some AV/Firewall products if you uninstall one of them.

Install Antivirus

An anti-virus is essential in keeping your computer safe while surfing the Internet. Please install a (ONE) free anti-virus program from one of the links below:Update It after the installation is complete please.

Install Firewall

Install a third-party firewall from the following selection of excellent programsThe main reason you would prefer a third-party firewall over the Windows XP Firewall is because Windows Firewall only stops incoming signals from accessing your computer. However, it will not stop Outgoing signles (possibly ones that could intrude your privacy) from sending information to the Internet or to other networks.

After you have installed one of the above firewalls, please disable your Windows Firewall, if you had it enabled.

*Note: If you choose the PC Tools Firewall Plus and you are asked to install ThreatFire do not do so.

Update Java to Version 6 Update 12

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to exploit and infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 6 Update 12 and save it to your desktop.
  • Look for "Java Runtime Environment (JRE)" JRE 6 Update 12.
  • Click the Download button to the right.
  • Select your Platform: "Windows".
  • Select your Language: "Multi-language".
  • Read the License Agreement, and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click Continue and the page will refresh.
  • Under Required Files, check the box for Windows Offline Installation, click the link below it and save the file to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button and follow the onscreen instructions for the Java uninstaller.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u12-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
*If using Windows Vista and the installer refuses to launch due to insufficient user permissions, then Run As Administrator.
** If you choose to update via the Java applet in Control Panel, uncheck the option to install the Toolbar unless you want it.
*** The uninstaller incorporated in this release removes previous Updates 10 and above, but does not remove older versions, so they still need to be removed manually.

Your log looks fine. This does not seem malware related. After repairing your windows file try dial-a-fix again and if that still fails I suggest you manually download that package if possible and start another topic in the XP Forum for further assistance as this forum is only for malware removal.

Thanks for understanding.

With Regards,
Extremeboy
