I have Win XP Home with SP3. I had to reinstall Win XP SP3 and IE 7 after my hard drive failed. I have downloaded IE 7 from the Windows site after my Zone Alarm Firewall was uninstalled, anti virus disabled and all of my anti spy ware programs shut down. When I try to open IE 7, it and Outlook Express will not connect to the internet. Fire Fox works. I know that I have an internet connection. I have reset the Winsock with no success. Is there any other thing I could do?

Did you use the command prompt to reset winsock (netsh winsock reset command) or did you use a tool like LSPfix or WinsockXPfix?

Although if Firefox can connect, then it is not your winsock catalog.
I am sure it is a firewall issue if it is picking and choosing which applications to block.

Try booting into "Safe Mode with Networking" and see what happens.

I tried to install IE 7 in safe mode with networking. It still will not connect.I also tried to install IE 7 before I installed Zone Alarm and it would not connect. This computer is on a wireless connection.IE 7 worked before my hard drive crashed with this wireless connection.
