Lots and lots of bad stuff. One keeps Windows Firewall down, others that are known are Zlob, Virtumonde and possible Smitfraud-C. Need a REAL hijack link, if possible. No error messages, just LOTS of virus alert screens. They occur about once ever 10-12 minutes. Picked up by Avira Anti-virus. Sorry if this is very, very vague, but it's all the information I have. No blue screens, no freezes. Sorry D: Hope you can help.

Hello mcguy4,

Posted Image

I see you've run ComboFix already. Please delete ComboFix and its accompanying folder C:\Qoobox. Empty your Recycle bin and reboot your computer. Now let's get a fresh one :

This tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please, along with a new HijackThis log*.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

*
Please do this:
1. Download HijackThis™ here:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/th.../hijackthis.php

2. Click 'Do a System Scan and Save log'.
The HJT log will open in notepad.

Thanks,
tea
Please make a donation so I can keep helping people just like you.
Every little bit helps! :)
You can even use your credit card! Thank you!

Update: Security Center will not turn on at all anymore. Get a message: Configuration manager: The machine selected for remote communication is not available at this time. Rebooted, message went away but the service still will not start at all.

-Got it to run by going to Services in the task manager.

Hello,

How is it running now please? The HijackThis log looks good, but it isn't a tell all. You had a rootkit at some point, so I'm not surprised that there are other little glitches/damage caused by the malware. :thumbup2:

Okay, Security Center will never start on start up. Something keeps disabling it. Random programs will stop working, but are able to restarted. Note: The random programs that stop are somewhat minor and almost ALWAYS run in the background, Steam, EA download manager, etc.

Avira repeatedly find this, though.

Virus or unwanted program 'TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen [trojan]'
detected in file 'C:\Windows\System32\senekaetueicns.dll.
Action performed: Deny access

It seems the things removed by ComboFix seem to have regenerated.

What should I do?

Hi,

Yes, this is a nasty rootkit. :thumbup2:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from one of these places:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.html
http://www.besttechie.net/mbam/mbam-setup.exe

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Thanks,
tea

My father suggested RootkitRevealer from Microsoft. Should I run this as well?

Woops! I was taking a look at the log and noticed something wasn't removed. So I ran Malwarebytes again to make sure. Here's the log:

Hello,

We already know you have a rootkit. :thumbup2:

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Navigate to and delete the following file(s), if present:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\seneka.sys
C:\Windows\System32\senekapop.dll

Empty your Recycle Bin and reboot into Normal Mode. Now run MBAM again and post the report if anything shows up. :)

How is it running?

Thanks,
tea

It's running fine now, all except for the fact that Windows Security Center will not start up automaticly on start up.

The two files you told me to delete were removed by the second Malwarebytes scan I ran. They were not present in safemode.

I did find the following, though:

senekanbyieogx.dat
senekantibxrst.dat
senekawicdfarn.dat

Suggestions?

Can you post the full path to them?

* Open notepad - don't use any other text editor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quote box below into notepad:

File::
c:\windows\System32\gqqbjutwrsri.dll-uninst.exe
c:\windows\System32\bcikdrhcdsdsc.exe
c:\windows\Omucasoyuyeb.dll
c:\windows\System32\chert11-303350.exe

Folder::
C:\fixwareout
C:\VundoFix Backups

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again.

After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply.

Thanks,
tea

Problem: During the process, Combofix was removed from my computer.

So, I try to download a new copy of the files. At around 3.0/3.2 MB I get a virus warning on Norton and avast!. I assume this is a false reading, due to both showing it as a Heuristic virus. So, i ignore both. When the download finishes, it tells me that the files are corrupt. I've tried three times to get them and the same thing happens.

Advice?
