dns hijacked - many simptoms

On my hp laptop I have win xp pro sp3

My simptoms:

when searhing using google clicks on the links go to some random sites
click back and again otn the link usualy brings to what seems to be a correct site

windows updates do not work - instead updates site brings me to the google error page (at least looks like it)
saying that such path / resource does not exist

updates for all antivirus and the like progs were not working - i overcome this by putting to hosts file the
update sistes
it worked for AVG, ClamAV, Spybot
somehow could not figure it out for Ad-aware (they do not show the site they are trying to connect to,
online search give me some site(s) but including them to hosts did do any good)

I did so far:

Spybot, AVG, ClamAV were updated and used for scanning
they reported some problems and fixed them but my porblem persists

Please need help! I saw a post from today (Google searches redirect to unrelated sites,
Hard drive also making noises) with the same problem (seems to be) but I know that all such
things rather to be addressed on per case basis...

Thank you - I am all set. Thank you for all yr help here you provide to people!!! Here is my report.

While waiting for help I was desperately browsing the forum.
I found someone having similar if not the same problem. He also followed with what I am doing now - message that he fixed it himself using Windows Live OneCare.

I tried it and it worked for me as well see log below pls. Emphasis on trying since it is not free but has trial period.
So thiese were keepng me and my DNS unhappy. :thumbup2:

In fact I was very impressed with OneCare. It took much less time then other things I tried and it fixed the problem.
I am not saying anything bad about Spybot, ClamAV, nor ABG. I used them for years. And will still use em. But it looks like I found a good addition to my AV arsenal when in trouble! :)
Looks like 5 hrs vs AVG's 9+... Pretty same stats for CalmAV.

I hope thi description of my experience helps to the team of helpers and to other victims...

Thank you again!

Here is the log of fixes:

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results, click no to the Optional_Scan
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
