Greetings, I'm an IS/IT Tech w/20+ years experience under my belt, currently a network admin for large furniture company (USA based). I've been visiting annoyances.org and bleepingcomputer for the past few years and never signed up until recently.

I am very thankful for the info all of you seasoned and even some green hardware hackers and software slingers post here. I came across a post related to the Vundo trojan a few weeks ago while trying to eradicate it from a customer's PC and nothing I threw at it worked, even as a stand-alone secondary HD hanging of my laptop scanning with Trend would not kill it.

Thanks to the posts here I discovered MalwareBytes.org and their Anti-Malware utility and it worked like a charm, saved my butt, made money for me, saved my customer's butt, made money for them, so I purchased the *pro* version!

btw I *full scanned* my customer's HD with PCTools AND Anti-Malware simultaneously, PCTools found the infections 1st and killed them. They did not conflict with each other either, I was impressed.

Interesting & frustrating: my customer had a paid subscription to McAfee(the entire Internet Security Suite package) which came bundled with their Dell PC, and they still got infected with Vundo :flowers: . It's one of the nasiest trojans I've seen, just like Downadup/Conflicker. When their subscription runs out in March I am switching them over to Avast (paid version).
