Pop-ups occuring with Mozilla and IE

I have tried several spyware and malware programs but cannot seem to remove the problem. Currently, when I travel to various websites, pop-ups occur that are specific to that website like an advertisement. Unfortunately, everything I have tried to do does not seem to help. Can someone assist?
