Hi I think I have a Hijacker. I've tried everything I could to get rid of it but I just cant find it. It will not let me update AVG or Mcafee. It redirects me to random websites. I get Pop-ups and I get ads for pills on almost all websites when normally they have ads for gaming stuff.

EDIT: I am now getting random disconnects.

Here's my Hijackthis log:

Hello Tim1018,

Thanks. I do still have problems with it. I downloaded and installed AVG 8.0 Free but I can't get any of the update files. I always get an "Unable to connect" message.

Probably the infection is blocking it.

I flushed the DNS and set up the DNS servers as the IP addresses you gave me. Once I attempted to go to www.malwarebytes.org I received a page load error with an "Address cannot be found" message. It appears as if the infection replicates itself whenever I open the internet as I found another 017 - HKLM file in the hijackthis log I ran after I was unable to find the malwarebyte's website.

Here's the new log:

Hello Tim1018,

This step was in case you couldn't access the Internet.
If you now cannot access the internet, please follow these steps:
  • Select Start->Control Panel->Network Connections
  • Right click your default connection, usually Local Area Connection (or Dial-up Connection if you are using dial-up) and select Properties
  • Under This connection uses the following items, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and press the Properties button
  • Select the radio button that says Use the following DNS server addresses:
  • Then enter the following IP addresses into the Preferred and Alternate IP address boxes: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
  • Then click OK twice
You didn't say if you lost connection with Internet.
----------------------------------------------
So let's do something else now:
  • Select Start->Control Panel->Network Connections
  • Click on "Obtain an IP address automatically.
  • Click on "Obtain DNS server address automatically.
  • Click OK and OK to exit.
Reboot.

Post a new HijackThis log and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware report.
Tell me if you can access the site now.

Please tell me also if you use a router and what model, we may need it.
In case you will need to reset your router, do you know how?

I do use a router. It's a Linksys BEFSR41 V.2. I do know how to reset it. I downloaded Malwarebyte on another computer and installed it on mine. I was unable to update it and I still cannot access the website from my computer. I've attached the malwarebyte log despite it being outdated.

EDIT: After I restarted my computer as required by malwarebyte, I was able to access the website and update all of my virus programs. The following logs are from before I restarted my computer.

Here's the Hijackthis logfile:

Hello Tim1018,

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware confirmed my fear, you are heavier infected that your HijackThis log showed.

In case you can't download Combofix, please do it on another pc and tranfer is on the infected pc.
----------------------------------------------
Download and run Combofix
This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.
  • If you need help to disable your protection programs see here.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it will produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

If you need help, see this link:
