Would a moderator please be so kind as to look at the post above by member "remember me".

I do not like to be greeted on any forum by a signature puprporting to tell me all details of my internet connection.

Surely that cannot be acceptable to BleepingComputer.........it is certainly not acceptable to me, and I will not be back here if such practice is allowed to continue.

Hello alumbagh,

To answer your question here, the IP banner in remember me's sig is not a harmful thing. It does not show any information that any remote comuter that your computer communicates to, does not see. To add to that, any other member cannot see the same information that you see. It will show their own IP and information. None of this information can be used to (for instance) hack your computer. There is no real cause for alarm. This will be discussed in staff forums.

Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.

Thank you pandy for the time and trouble you have taken, and thank you for your reassurance.

My apologies for having posted my original query in the wrong place.

Is the Danasoft signature a hacking tool, or can it be used to violate anyone's privacy?

Absolutely not! The Danasoft signature can never be used maliciously. Users come to Danasoft.com and create custom signs, with text that they choose, and they then display their custom signs in forums or on websites using a simple image link. We don't monitor or censor the text that users choose to display on their signs. Regardless of what prankster text might appear on a user's custom sign, the sign is totally harmless.

Above quote taken from About Danasoft

And as Pandy has said, this will be discussed in the staff area. And to reiterate, they cannot be used maliciously. But they can be disconcerting to members who don't fully understand, how they work.
