The machine is a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop. Pentium M 1.8 ghz and 512MB DDR2 ram. It has a freshly installed copy of windows XP Pro and on boot-up, after the blue bars the BSOD comes up. There is no option in the BIOS to boot from CD so I can't boot up the XP disc and repair.
It shows *** STOP: 0X000000ED (0X82DD3E30,0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

Does anybody know what I could do?

I think that if you press F12 when the Dell logo appears it will give you the option of booting from the CD.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
