I need general information, NOT specialized in-depth things that I can't even understand. I have never joined a Computer Forum before, but I have looked in on quite a few, and was sort of turned off by the seeming total dominance of the threads by specialists interested in tiny areas that I don't even understand, and even if I did understand them, I likely wouldn't need them at my level. I have been looking for a place to post and such that has a set aside area just for dummies like me. Does anyone even understand what I am talking about? I'm not at all against hi tech specialists honing fine points, but just that I'm not at that level. But, hey, maybe I'm the only one who is stuck at the bottom. It's just that those specialists make me feel so dumb and inferior, added to the fact that I can't learn stuff at that higher level right now. But, anyway, best regards to everyone. Tom

While some technical terms are probably unavoidable when discussing computing, they can be kept to a minimum with some care. Many of BC's Tutorials (tabbed above) are written for the beginner, and the forum listed below may be of interest to you:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/92/mini-guides-and-how-tos-simple-answers-to-common-questions/

And if you preface a post here with the comment that you are a beginner and need a very general or simple answer, our Members will make every effort to help you.
Welcome to BC!
Regards,
John
