I have an account that I would like to delete. Windows Xp will not let me delete this account when I go to Control Panel/User Accounts on my computer. It lets me go through all the steps to delete the account like whether or not I want to save the files, etc but I keep getting a not responding message when I try to delete everything and when I try to just delete the account and save the files to a folder on my desktop. I tried making another account and then deleting it but had no problems at all! Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to get rid of this account or what is going on and why it is doing this??
please & thank you!

Are you logged in as administrator? Is this an account that you created or one you found on the computer?

The deleting of a user profile can take a long time if there is a lot of junk in the profile and/or programs running from that profile, if you dont need anything from that profile (email pics etc) you can log onto a different profile and then go to c:\Documents and Settings\**USERNAME**\ (where **USERNAME** is the name of the profile you want to delete) and delete the FOLDERS out of it, then you can go into the user control panel and it should take a shorter amount of time to delete the profile. You will get better results if you show hidden files and fiolders and system folders temporarily.

You could also try from safe mode. Log in as the administrator in safe mode and try deleting the account.
