I am hoping someone here can help me. I have search through these forms and have found similar issues but not the exact errors i am getting..

Yesterday, i noticed my PC (win xp pro sp2) just locking up for no reason at all.. I had to shutoff and restart....Later in the day, i went to turn on yahoo msgr and the entire computer just rebooted.....

This morning i turned on my PC and i received the following msg when i booted the PC up.

When i click the view technical info regarding this.. I get this

I cannot get system restore to work, i get to the 2nd screen after choosing a restore point, click next and just hangs there.....i have tried this in safe mode and in safe mode w/ cmd prompt.

I also tried to defrag the drive and it said "defrag could not start".....

I did get some junk on my PC the other day when the problem started, but i have since ran hijackthis and removed any bad items as well as running antivirus and removing a few small things....I have used combofix twice in last few yrs to correct problems, maybe that would help again???

Anyone have any suggestions for me to correct this?

Thanks in advance!

Hello maximumrock,

ComboFix should not to be discussed outside the HijackThis forums and then only when requested by a HJT Team member. It is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by someone who has been properly trained. ComboFix is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for private use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Please create a new topic explaining the nature of your problem in the Am I infected? What do I do? forum. Describe pop-ups and system tray or desktop icons that have appeared. Explain what is "going wrong" with your computer. Note any tools you have used and their respective results.

If needed, we will direct you to our HJT Preparation Guide.

Thank you for using BleepingComputer as your malware removal source.
