reformatted my harddrive
i keep getting microsoft tellig my to upgrade to sp 2?
i dont know what is on here right now?
is there a benefit to upgrading the express SP2 onto a DELL VOSTRO1700?

Hi, there are a lot of benifts to SP 2 http://support.microsoft.com/windowsxpsp2
I would certainly consider installing it..in fact I would recommend to.

is sp 2 better than 3?

If you have sp3 then microsoft update should not be prompting you to update to sp2.
sp3 has everything sp2 had, so just stick with sp3 if you already have it and everything is working fine.
