I have recently acquired a Dell laptop with XP Home edition. It has an Intel Pentium M chip and 512 mb ram. I am not able to run any of the usual Spyware programs on it as it just shuts down when I start anything like that. I can run other programs like Word. When I check for processes that running I see a lot of trojans and worms when I look in BC's startup list. Right now it won't even let me connect to BC. I am typing this from another machine. Any help is appreciated.

  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Fenzodahl512,

Thanks for your assistance. I have downloaded each of the 3 programs you instructed. Although they all download only RSIT would actually run. Should I being trying it in safe mode? I still am not able to connect to BC with that laptop!

Do this on that infected pc..

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix.. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.. Please re-enable them back after performing all steps given..

Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE or HERE and save it to your Desktop.

During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.

**NOTE: If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
  • Tools->Options->Main tab
  • Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

After that, double-click and run Combo-Fix. Let it finish its job and post the log here

If ComboFix asked you to install Recovery Console, please do so.. It will be your best interest..

Note: DON'T do anything with your computer while ComboFix is running.. Let ComboFix finishes its job..

Keep calm, make it simple, use your brain, don't freak out, and you'll be just fine..

1. Please open Notepad
  • Click Start, then Run
  • Type notepad.exe in the Run Box.
2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

KillAll::

File::
c:\windows\system32\nsg63.dll

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{4f5c3a62-0560-6e82-3db1-ff5e9c5412b1}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\session manager]
"BootExecute"=hex(7):61,75,74,6f,63,68,65,63,6b,20,61,75,74,6f,63,68,6b,20,2a,00,00

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

I can't get it to let me go to that site. I have tried to adjust the settings in ie from High Security to Medium but that is not an option! Very Frustrating.

Err... lets do this then...

Lets run F-Secure online scan for Viruses, Spyware and RootKits:
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Start scanning button. A window will pop up.
  • Allow the Active X control to be installed on your computer, then click the Accept button
  • Click Full System Scan and allow the components to download and the scan to complete.
  • If malware is found, check Submit samples to F-Secure then select Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finitished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
If Automatic cleaning with Submit samples hangs, click Cancel, then New Scan
  • When the cleaning option is presented, Uncheck Submit samples to F-Secure
  • Click Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finitished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
Notes:
  • This scan will only work with Internet Explorer
  • You must have administrator rights to run this scan
  • This scan can take several hours, so please be patient

Keep calm, make it simple, use your brain, don't freak out, and you'll be just fine..
