i'll try to be short and concise. about a month ago, i had DEP (Date Execution Prevention) issues. It was killing two of my legitimate processes (one being my audio driver, another being my keyboard's multimedia keys...?) I kept making DEP Exceptions to keep them working, but I learned that the problem was a worm that was running in svchost.exe. AVG was detecting it, and I kept healing it, but it kept respawning, and spreading to affect other legitimate process. DEP eventually killed AIM and even Windows Explorer. So I reformatted, and was careful not to go to the web while reinstalling all my necessary drivers. I had to go to windows update for SP3, and after a few reboots, AVG spotted x.exe again! I was in the middle of a few projects, so I dealt with it for about 2 weeks, and it really started to get annoying, so I reformatted AGAIN.

Full reformat of C: with NTFS, and installed XP Professional again. 30 minutes after the install, I'm connected to the internet, firewall, and have AVG running, and x.exe shows its face again. Now, I pull a lot of apps from my external harddrive, so I thought maybe there was a .dll or .bat on there that was recreating it, but I scanned it and found nothing, and I also unplugged it, and after healing the virus, it continued to reappear. I don't know how this thing is surviving a reformat, but i've been googling, and found other people with the same scenario. x.exe somehow managing to reappear even after Low Level Formats!! ughhhh.

I've downloaded dds.scr as per the guide here, so here's the resulting txt file. (i see several obvious worms and virus exe's, but I don't know the best course of action, so any help is greatly appreciated):
