touchpad problem

hi all,i have a sony notebook pcg-k13 and for the last few days my touchpad is acting weird.every 15 min. or so it stops working.i can move the pointer,but when i click on something nothing happens.if i turn off pc and restart,it's ok for the next few min.checked for spyware and virus's,came out clean;also re-installed Synaptics pointing device driver but did not solve problem.any help would be appreciated.thanks,joe

Check your hibernate or standby settings.
