I can't get the link on my start up menu to active messenger, and can only sign into my hotmail account with the webpage. However once in there, I can open up any mail sent but can not reply, forward, send, or anything else, it just freezes up. I have to use task manager to close the window. Any ideas what's happened?

I suggest you check for malware.
Use Super Antispyware and the Bit Defender Online Scanner
Directions for using Super Antispyware are in the link below.

You should be able to access your online Hot Mail account using a different computer. Have you tried that?

I would suggest flushing away Hotmail. It's slow, full of spam and really crowded (making it even slower).

I use Yahoo Mail. It's simple, fast, never, ever, any spam without any spam filter to configure.
Please post back if we found the solution
