Good to sign up and become a member of this rich resource. I'm an Aussie, living in China.

Have enough computer knowledge to get myself into serious strife, and have done that more than once, but not enough technical knowledge to know how to fix the problems I create. :flowers:

First computer in 1987 was an AUD $2,000 machine, forget the brand-name, but probably a x286 series, ran on OS Dos 3.2, 2x 5.25 FDDs, no HD, small amount of RAM, amber monitor - very very basic, sold a year later and slowly worked through x386 & x486 machines, and on to Win 3.1, then Win95, Win2000, and now WinXPPro.

Have built a couple of machines, but not very adept at this level, have done quite a few re-formats and re-installs, but still a mug operator. Have de-installed Vista and re-installed XPPro, and refuse to use Vista.

Have lost complete systems and wept bitter tears due to several wretched invasions of malware and am now extremely wary of the integrity of the data that comes into my machine, and protective of the data that I keep.

Am currently using an HP Compaq nx6130 running a 1.86GHz processor with 2GB RAM and a total of around 350GB in HD capacity, internal & external

That's it!
