Codec needed on my laptop

Hello Guys,

I have a work laptop that i cannot install anything on. (i don't have admin rights) However i cannot watch any *.avi files because i don't have right codecs.
What can i do?

I suggest that you try something like this: http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portable
It allows you to play videos without installing any software.

Work laptop covers it: someone has put into place measures to keep you from doing certain things on the laptop.
With that in mind, Bleeping Computer guidelines state

No subject matter will be allowed whose purpose is to defeat existing copyright or security measures. If a user persists and/or the activity is obviously illegal the staff reserves the right to remove such content and/or ban the user. This would also mean encouraging the use or continued use of pirated software is not permitted, and subject to the same consequences.
