Is there an application that can password prtoect a file/folder?

Is there an application that can password protect a file/folder...and the ability to open that folder on another pc without installing any other software...ie just by typing the password in...?

as far as i know - no. The closest way to do it is to pack with winrar, using password protection.

correct me if i'm wrong, also curious if this is possible with windows native resourses.
