We have been having connection problems with the internet, and have been trying to fix that issue. In running malware detection programs that are new to our system, we found a registry issue that was not resolved by the anti-malware program. Based on plugging the malware string into the internet, we downloaded the suggested SDFix and ComboFix programs. We ran one, rebooted, ran the other, rebooted, no internet connection. Tried to run CHKdisk from command prompt, said it needed to restart because volume was currently in use. Restart resulted in BSOD during and before splash screen. (Yes, we tried more than once.) We cannot get on to disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or back up utilities as the BOSD commands.

We got the following technical information, aka Stop code :

0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x86A28868,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x86A19268,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x871810E8,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x87170CA0,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x86822868,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x86A19268,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x86A22268,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x871750E8,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

Is there something or someplace you recommend we use to fix this?

Thanks for responding so fast!

"C:\>chkdsk

Try running chkdsk /r from the Recovery Console of the XP CD...chkdsk /r is the suggested attempted fix for your STOP error.

The command is chkdsk /r, not just chkdsk.

Used without parameters, chkdsk displays the status of the disk in the current drive. It will only repair if used with the /r or /p parameter of the command.
