To find out if your pop up blocker is preventing the link from opening:

Hold down the ctrl or shift key while clicking on the link. If it opens, you have an over-active pop up blocker.

Browser: IE (which version?), Firefox, Seamonky, Opera, etc. What do use to access the internet? Hotmail is not a browser, it's a webpage. I'm also guessing that you mean Yahoo mail, which also is a webpage, not a browser.

Did you try what I suggested above with the ctrl or shift key? You need to either rule out your pop-up blocker as the cause or confirm that is indeed seeing links as pop-ups.

I think the question was to you - what browser you're using?
Internet Explorer?
Opera?
Firefox?
If you tell people what you use, it might help them help you with the correct settings.

And while we're at it - what security software do you use? One of them might be blocking things you don't want blocked
Firewall -
Antivirus -
Antispyware -
etc etc
