New member here, having bailed out of Dell Community Forums after more than 8 years participation with 7000 posts because of Dell's decision to summarily scrap the working, user friendly, support oriented format in favor of a non-user friendly, malfunctioning socially oriented experiment/design.

My prime interest the last 4 years or so on the Dell site has been the PC gaming and associated hardware areas which I hope to continue here.

My first computer purchase was a 1995 Gateway 486DX2-50 speed demon running DOS on a 14" monitor - and just to add, CD-ROM drives weren't in existence yet. My next computer was from Micron followed by successive Dell systems from 1998 to a XPS Gen 3 system 2003. Because of Dell's continued use of proprietary spec'd components including motherboards I opted for a custom built of my own in May of 2008 and couldn't be happier.

As my user name denotes, I'm well over 50 (and then some), retired GM skilled trades general supervisor (got out at 53 with 30 years service) with 4 years of military service after high school. Other interests are model railroading (nearly 30 years) and piano (Yamaha Clavinova to be specific).

From what I've seen so far of the site it appears to replicate what I just left in terms of format and operation. Looking forward to both receiving input and providing help where I can.
