I mistakenly deleted some Excel files and emptied the Recycle Bin before I realized I had "saved" only shortcuts, not acutal files to the new folder.
How can I quickly retrieve these?

First, stop using that computer. Any further use will increase the chance that those files will be overwritten by the OS during normal operations.

Then, get a data recovery program. The best free one (IMO) is http://www.pcinspector.de - but it's very confusing to use.
The best paid on (IMO) is GetDataBack from http://www.runtime.org - but it's $80 US. It does offer a free analysis to tell you what you can recover before you pay for it.

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
