Hi,
I-stupidly-clicked-on-a-link-on-youtube-2-nights-ago,and-got-infected-with-a-trojan.--so,so,stupid.

First,i-was-sent-to-a-website-at-random-times-for-about-a-day"Kolmic".---then,-it-has-gotten-progressively-worse.

Now,every-time-i-touch-the-spacebar-or-the-numeral-eight-or-five,my-computer-goes-crazy--typingfive,five,five,orseven,seven,seven.Locking-up-programs,-opening-up-IE-and-revisiting"Kolmic.com"

I-have-run-NortonAntivirus,spywareterminator,adaware,cyberscrub,spybot-and-malwarebytes.--Only-spybot-found-something(9files)-but-could-not-remove-them.Then-mb-found-39-and-did-a-better-job-of-at-least-quarantining-them.

Following-is-the-MB-log-from-tonight.---As-you-can-see,my-computer-is-still-massively-jacked-up,even-after-clicking-the-MB-button-to-remove-the-bad-files.

Any-help-is-much-appreciated.

Thanks,
michelle

thanks,-rigel,--I-did-exactly-what-you-suggested.--the-full-scan-took-over-2-hours.--lots-of-cookies-found,-only-1-really-nasty-in-the-registry.

weirdly,in-the-startup-folder,-'my-computer'-has-been-renamed-'eight-five'-(in-numerals).--since-these-are-the-numerals-that-send-my-computer-into-a-tizzy,i-think-the-malware-did-it.

otherwise,-all-the-problems-remain-the-same.

here-is-the-log.---I-await-further-orders.

Hi michellis - welcome back

Hmmm here is some information on DSSAGENT. I think Broderbund is the owner of Printshop.

Next steps:
Please print out and follow these instructions: "How to use SDFix". <- This program is for Windows 2000/XP ONLY.
When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with "Administrative rights"
  • Disconnect from the Internet and temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any real time protection programs before performing a scan.
  • When done, the SDFix report log will open in notepad and automatically be saved in the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
  • If SDFix is unable to run after rebooting from Safe Mode, run SDFix in either Mode, and type F, then press Enter for it to finish the final stage and produce the report.
  • Please copy and paste the contents of Report.txt in your next reply.
  • Be sure to renable you anti-virus and and other security programs before connecting to the Internet.
-- If the computer has been infected with the VirusAlert! malware warning from the clock and the Start Menu icons or drives are not visible, open the SDFix folder, right-click on either the XP_VirusAlert_Repair.inf or W2K VirusAlert_Repair.inf (depending on your version of Windows) and select Install from the Context menu. Then reboot to apply the changes.

Please run the F-Secure Online Scanner
Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer Only!
Follow the Instruction here for installation.
Accept the License Agreement.
Once the ActiveX installs,Click Full System Scan
Once the download completes, the scan will begin automatically.
The scan will take some time to finish, so please be patient.
When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button.
Click the Show Report button and Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

We still have work we can do here, but if you want to move to HJT, I can give instructions for that as well. There will be a wait in The HJT forum though.

Trojan.DNSChanger-Codec

Since this trojan is present, I would change your router's admin password.

Please download SmitfraudFix

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

Let's update and rescan with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware and see what shows. Please post their logs.

Hi Michelle,

It looks like you earlier thought is going to come true. The tools allowed here are not strong enough to clean the infection you have. Let's get you ready for the HJT forum. Please follow this guide from step (6). Post a HJT log to the HJT forum and a Team member will be along to help you as soon as possible. You may wish to post a link back to this topic to see what was discussed thus far.

I'm sorry we couldn't fix everything here. If you need any help with the guide, please let me know. Best wishes - you are in good hands...

rigel,
i-went-ahead-and-posted-my-hjt-log-on-the-hjt-forum.--i-just-wanted-to-say-thank-you-for-all-of-your-time-and-help.

i-do-have-one-more-question.--i-had-a-'duh'-moment-earlier-this-morning-when-i-realized-that-a-glitch-i've-been-experiencing-in-excel-might-be-a-virus.--for-a-few-weeks,-whenever-i-try-to-open-an-excel-document-and-the-excel-program-is-not-already-running,-i-am-given-an-error-message-and-asked-to-insert-my-system-disk.--i-circumvent-this-by-opening-excel-directly-from-the-programs/microsoft-word-folder.

today,went-to-do-this-again,-and-found-the-following-folder-and-files...

the-folder-is-called-Office12-and-its-address-is--
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

The-following-files-are-in-the-folder...
1033-(folder)
excelcnv.exe
excelcnvpxy.dll
moc.exe
oartconv.dll
ppcnv.dll
ppcnvcom.exe
ppcnvpxy.dll
ppcprtid.xml
wordcnv.dll
wordcnvpxy.cnv
wordconv.exe
xlcprtid.xml

I-know-from-an-internet-search-that-excelcnv.exe-is-a-virus.--should-i-remove-all-the-other-files-in-the-folder-as-well?--I-can-do-this-with-norton-antivirus-manually,but-is-there-a-better-method?

Should-I-start-a-new-thread-for-this?

Thanks!
michelle

I wouldn't yet. Let the tech that takes your log know what you have found. The scanners we used should have taken care of that problem, but didn't, so that means something else is going on behind the scenes. At this point I would follow only the instructions of the HJT team member who takes your log.

If you have any questions, let me know!

Take care Michelle...
