hi, i'm currently running service pack 2 on xp and in the last couple of weeks it's devoloped an annoying problem

it won't let me click on (or in any way use) the taskbar whatsoever, and don't even display the names of the programs when i hover over them either?

any ideas what might be the problem?

tried a registry cleaner and all the usual anti-spyware software on it, hasn't picked up anything out of the ordinary though

at first it was fine when i restarted my laptop cos the problem went, but now it just happens every time

i usually hibernate rather than shutting it down properly too, if theres any known glitches down that route?

thanks in advance for any help

Try disabling hibernation, rebooting, then re-enabling it.
It could be a corruption in the hiberfil.sys file where the hibernation stuff is stored.

Also, try updating your video drivers to ensure that there's no corruption there.
