Hi......This happens to be my first post on this site.............. Well heres the scene ...... i had some internet connectivity issues with my comp that were quite unusually long so had to do a complete repair of my windows XP(SP2) OS..... it went well and it also rectified the connectivity problem...... but after some happy moments when i tried playing some mp3 files that were working quite fine some few days back were found to be corrupt....... i did a complete virus scan after repairing the OS and it dint detect any viruses ....... i use avg 8.0 and update it almost daily ........ but i do not have a malware detecting software ....... Did a complete scan of my songs folder with mp3val and found out that abt 80% of all the songs are corrupt .... needless to say that i dint backup my data.......... well how do you backup a 500 GB harddisk thats almost full ...... Am a noob when it comes to computer security related issues..... i did a hijackthis test and heres the log......Hoping to get a reply .... Thanks .And yeah is there a way i can fix corrupt mp3 files ........i tried FS-MP3fix,MP3RepairTool,mp3val,mptrim and nothing seems to work .......although it might also be that i dont quite know the right way of using the tool...... k.thats it for now.......

Hi Rahul,

Welcome to the BleepingComputer forums.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for assistance. Every one of our team members is a volunteer and unfortunately, there are often just not enough to keep up with demand. Thank you so much for your patience.

If your issue has been resolved or you have received help elsewhere, please post a reply here and let us know so that we can close this thread.

If you still need assistance, my name is SpotCheckBilly (SCB for short) and I will be happy to help you.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.NOTE: Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed
There shouldn't be any scheduled antivirus scans running while the scan is being performed.
Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.

  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results, click Yes to the Optional_Scan
  • >>Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.<<
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
I look forward to your reply. -- SCB
