Hey folks!
Thanks for being here guys! Yesterday I was doing my usual online routine and apparently I did something wrong. As of yesterday afternoon, my computer started freezing, having multiple pop ups, and has slowed tremendously. I am a Fire Fox user, as IE died for me years ago. Other than that, I really don't know what other info to give you. However, I would be more than happy to answer any questions or suggestions you peeps have for me in order to get back on track here. You may notice on my log that I have downloaded two Anti-Malware programs. Neither of them would load successfully. Thanks for your time! It is great that you guys do this!

Sarah Beth

PS- When this first began, I ran AdAware to try to dissolve the problem. That is when I found the name of it, but then Adaware went bazzurk and now will not run anymore.

Thanks for taking my case fenzodahl512!

Problem: When I was installing the Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware program, I received the following message, which kept me from running it:

Error Creating RegistryKey
HKEY_Local_Maching\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\AppPaths\mbam.exe

RegCreateKey Ex failed; code 1019.
System could not allocate the required space in a registry log

I anxiously await your helpful advice!

Do this instead....

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved and renamed following this process directly to your desktop**
  • If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
    • Tools->Options->Main tab
    • Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".
  • During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

    Posted Image

    Posted Image

  • It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
  • Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combo-Fix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\Combo-Fix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combo-fix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Keep calm, make it simple, use your brain, don't freak out, and you'll be just fine..

As soon as the Combo-fix starting running an error box popped up. All is said was ERROR INSTALLATION FAILED in red.

A few seconds later another box arrived that said that something was trying to attach itself to Combo-fix. It is: c:\WINDOWS\System32\pchwdy.dll It was written twice. It said you might want to know that, so that is why I am telling you.

Then a loud beep and box popped up that said that I had not disabled my Systematic Antivirus Corporate Edition. So went to disable it and continued on. Another box popped up and said that I STILL had not disabled it. I tried again and again, and it kept enabling itself. I went back to your links and this webpage links to find out how to disable it, but I couldn't find any instructions.

So I let it keep going.

After an hour, the message in the blue window never changed. The whole time it said that Combofix was starting up, but it never did anything for an hour, so I X'd it out.

I will go back and try to run it again, but I feel like I must be doing something wrong- particularly since I can't keep the SACE disabled.

Thanks for your time. (I FEEL LIKE I'M BEING A PAIN IN THE HINEY!)

Ok.. Do this instead..

Please download Dr.Web CureIt to the Desktop:
  • Please reboot into Safe Mode
  • Once you are in Safe Mode, double-click the launch.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, please do a re-scan.. This time, choose Complete Scan
  • Click the green arrow button at the right, and the scan will start.
  • After the scan finished, click Select all
  • Click on Cure and choose Move incurable
  • When the scan has finished, in the menu, click File and choose Save report list
  • Save the report to your Desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit. Reboot your PC in Normal Mode, and post DrWeb.csv in your next reply (Open it as Notepad)

NEXT

Please download RSIT by random/random and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT
  • Before you click "Continue", make sure you change the List files/folders created or modified in the last 3 months
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt and info.txt in your next reply.

NEXT

Please download GMER and unzip it to your Desktop.
  • Open the program and click on the Rootkit tab.
  • Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for ‘Show All’.
  • Click on Scan.
  • When the scan has run click Copy and paste the results into a Notepad >> save it and attach in this thread.

Post me these logs in your next reply.. Post each log in separate post..

1. Dr.Web CureIt!
2. RSIT log.txt
3. RSIT info.txt
4. Attach GMER result..

Keep calm, make it simple, use your brain, don't freak out, and you'll be just fine..

(a) do I need to do everything in post two, or have I done what I was supposed to?
( Can you recommend a free but still good anti-virus software that can keep this from happening again?
© Can you tell from all this data as to where all of my malware came from? Might I have gotten it from somewhere as simple as facebook or itunes?
(d) Was there any information on my computer that was taken and read by someone else because of these viruses? ie passwords, bank numbers, etc
(e) thank you so much for your time

a. do I need to do everything in post two, or have I done what I was supposed to?
b. Can you recommend a free but still good anti-virus software that can keep this from happening again?
c. Can you tell from all this data as to where all of my malware came from? Might I have gotten it from somewhere as simple as facebook or itunes?
d. Was there any information on my computer that was taken and read by someone else because of these viruses? ie passwords, bank numbers, etc
e. thank you so much for your time

a. Yes, run RSIT please and post the logs here

b. You already have Symantec Antivirus.. Its good enough for me, but if you insist on free and great antivirus, I can only think of Avast! or Avira.. Just install ONLY ONE of them (not both..)

c. Its difficult, but the main source of that kind of malware is from cracked software, keygens, illegal serials, pornsites, or something that you downloaded from p2p program such as limewire, bearshare or bit torrent..

d. Not sure about that but the best bet is to change all of your passwords from a clean computer

e. You're welcome, but please run and post the RSIT log.. I post the instruction once again below :)

Keep calm, make it simple, use your brain, don't freak out, and you'll be just fine..

I ran RSIT four times and none of the times would it create an info.txt log.

Also, somewhere in the middle of all this, my computer time has turned to military time--- as it says that it is 20:33 right now rather than 8:33.
