I have tried a number of things all day without any success. My laptop has been scanned for viruses using Norton and adware/spyware/malware using ZoneAlarm as well as Malwarebytes. The initial scans did come up with issues which have been fixed. However, the spybot detection files, the windowsupdate, or the Norton updates or ZoneAlarm updates don't come thru. The ping from the DOS prompt to windowsupdate.microsoft.com resolves to localhost, 127.0.0.1 (along with other security related sites). The hosts file only contains the exclusions auto populated by Spybot. Even if I make an entry of my own to go to a specific IP address, it gets ignored. I have already delted the IE cookies, temp files. I am posting this note from my desktop PC as as I could not upload using the 'AnalyzeThis' from HijackThis tool to TrendSecure. That URL also got misdirected just like the others.

I am uploading two log files from HijackThis. First is HijackThis log and second is Startuplist. Thanks in advance for you kind assistance.

Just wanted to let you know that I ran a tool suggested in another post called Dial-a-Fix as it looked promising. However, it doesn't appear to have helped any. I am attaching the latest HijackThis files. Please refer to these instead. I will look forward to your reply.

Thanks,
Murali

Please ignore this request. My daughter is heading back to college and needs to take the laptop in question. So, I am going ahead with the total system rebuild using the factory disks in the interest of time. Sorry, if I consumed any of your valuable time in diagnosing this issue.

Regards,
Murali
